Ground Turkey Picadillo

I have no clue what I will be cooking for dinner tonight. Vanley and I went to the zoo today with MOMS club and we are both tired. He is actually taking an afternoon nap...gasp! I should be downstairs cleaning and starting dinner, but instead I am filling my few followers in. I have taken out ground turkey and feel like I have gone through the Rolodex of ideas with ground turkey. When I was in Houston a few visits ago, my friend Lisa made pan fried turkey steaks with gravy, and mashed potatoes. That sounds pretty good, but I don't have a gravy packet...yes, even I will use a gravy packet from time to time....and so should you. Get the one with less sodium. I am heading to the kitchen to see if something in my pantry inspires me. Will post recipe later tonight.

I went from the South to Cuba for dinner. I will make fried turkey steak soon and post the recipe when I do. I bought a new jar of green olives yesterday and they were calling my name tonight....and it wasn't to garnish a martini, that would be my husband. I created a Turkey Picadillo with whole wheat cous cous and we both cleaned our plates. Here's the recipe.

Ground Turkey Picadillo with Cous Cous or Yellow Rice

1lb Ground Turkey-cooked
1 Medium Yellow Onion-diced
1 15 oz Can Tomato Sauce
1 15oz Can Diced Tomato
1/2 Cup Green Olives-sliced
1/2 Cup Golden Raisins-can use regular
1 Tbsp Paprika
1 tsp Cayenne
Dash Cinnamon
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper

Cook turkey and drain. Saute onions for a few minutes and add turkey back. Add the rest of the ingredients and let simmer for 20 minutes. Cook cous cous according to box. Serve Picadillo over cous cous. Yellow rice is typically served with picadillo, however I did not have a bag of yellow rice nor did I have saffron to make it so I used what I had and so can you.
